Art courses
CLAYteaches students various hand-building techniques. Glaze chemistry and experimentation with finishes will also be addressed as students explore the creative possibilities of clay through a variety of projects. Creativity and craftsmanship will be emphasized.

Drawing/printmakingexplores different media (pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, pastels, and pen and ink) and art forms (landscape, portrait, self-portrait, still life, and figure study,) and introduces basic printmaking techniques (intaglio, linoleum block, and colligraph.)

Theater artsinvites students to experience the preparation for and performance of theater. Focusing primarily on theatrical design and creation of props, costumes, sets, lighting, and sound, students will contribute to IBHS drama productions.

PHOTOGRAPHYexplores digital photography, and shooting techniques. (including digital photo manipulation, composition, and thematic choices)

PAINTINGis an introduction to acrylic painting techniques. The Elements (Line, Color, Texture, Space, Shape, and Value) and Principles (Contrast, Unity, Rhythm, Pattern, Movement, Balance, and Emphasis) of Design will each be explored through the act of creating.

FILMmakingexplores 4-D art. Storytelling, developing a narrative, basic animation, and editing are all emphasized as students split time between shooting and editing.

7th GradeStudents of IBMS take Art as a block class. That means that each student will take art for one quarter of the school year as part of a rotation of classes.

8th grade8th Grade Art is a great way for students to sample what Art classes are available for them to take in high school. During their quarter of Art, students will explore various drawing, painting, and sculpture techniques.
